Christian in Pakistan will observe Black Day to boycott Elections
Karachi: April 10, 2013. (PCP) According to press note issued by Central Secretariat of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC, one more Christian party Pakistan Masihi Tehreek have joined campaign to boycott election 2013, making total of five major Christian parties to struggle for Election instead of Selection on reserved seats for minorities in parliament.
The Selection on reserved seats was imposed by military ruler General Pervez Musharraf in 2002 national general elections under Joint Electorate empowering Muslim political parties in parliament to share 10 reserved seats by selecting Christians and Hindus of their choice or by taking heavy bribes to enter in house of National Assembly of Pakistan.
Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that number of memorandums were submitted with government of Pakistan and Election Commission of Pakistan to give Dual Voting Right to minorities that they may elect their representation by their votes and may also vote to Muslim candidates in their respective constituencies but no consideration was given on this very important.
“The National Assembly of Pakistan and Provincial Assemblies elected in Election 2013, will not be democratic nor constitutional because selected members of women and minorities will be part of that house which will be denial of Article 226 of constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan as it allows secret ballot not handpicked selected seats on 60 women and 10 minorities reserved seats” said Nazir Bhatti
There were petition filed in Supreme Court of Pakistan to challenge 18th Amendment in constitution in which elected representatives repealed Islamic laws introduced during dictator Zia-Ul-Haq of their choice and even agreed to remove portraits of military dictator from parliament buildings but nor amended blasphemy laws or election system for minorities on reserved seats.
“The Supreme Court of Pakistan took prompt action against formation of Judicial Commission recommended in 18th Amendment but not bothered to pass any judgment on petition filed in 2010 to take notice of Selection System and to hold Election on minorities reserved seats under Article 226” added PCC Chief
Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that Pakistani Christian have lost their confidence on Supreme Court of Pakistan, government of Pakistan and Election Commission of Pakistan which are holding these unconstitutional elections denying Article 226 and forced them to out of election 2013.
PCC announced that Pakistani Christian will observe “Black Day” on May 11, 2013 which is Election Day in Pakistan. The Christian will hoist black flags on their houses from Karachi to Peshawar as a protest against Selection on reserve seats for minorities.
Nazir Bhatti said that “Black Day” to boycott Election 2013, will be peaceful protest and if any Muslim feudal lord, business tycoon, Malik, Sardar or criminal candidate of any provincial or National assembly from PPP, PML (N), PML (Q), PTI, MQM, ANP, JI, JUI (F) or any other party tried to use force or threat to Christian or Hindu or Ahmadiyyia voter to cast in his favour, a hotline will be established in Karachi for moment to moment complains and elections of those will be duly challenged.
PCC Chief said that we are circulating a memorandum of boycott of Election 2013, by Pakistani Christians to EU, US, Canadian, UN and other human right organization which will be in Pakistan as “Election Observers” to take note that no threat, harassment or violence is used by Muslim political parties to force them to cast vote in their favour on May 11, 2013. |
