Nazir Bhatti appeals Pope Francis not to visit Pakistan.

Philadelphia: March 24, 2018. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, Founder of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC and Editor of Pakistan Christian Post have appealed to Holy Father Pope Francis to ignore invitation offered to him by Pakistani Catholic Bishops Conference on March 15, 2018, to visit Pakistan.

A Delegation of Catholic Bishops of Pakistan met Holy Father Pope Francis in Vatican City and extended him invitation to visit Pakistan on intimation of Pakistan establishment.

In 2016, a Pakistani Christian Senator Kamran Michael along with Muslim federal Minister for Religious Affair Sardar Mohammad Yousaf met with Holy Father Pope Francis and invited him to grace Pakistan with his visit by Vatican expressed slow response to it while it was widely propagated in Pakistani media that Pope Francis will visit Pakistan.

Pakistan is practicing controlled democracy where Christians and other religious minorities are persecuted and targeted by extremist Muslim groups operating under secret agencies operatives.

Recently, a Pakistani Muslim extremist group supported by Pakistani establishment attacked Christian residents in city of Shahdarha near Lahore on pretext to blasphemy and accused one Christian community individuals of blasphemy.

The CJ of Supreme Court of Pakistan who is busy in social activism have not paid any attention on appeal of Asia Bibi who is in jail on death row from years on accusation of blasphemy but not fixing hearing.

In 2016, one Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan SCP Justice Iqbal Hamid UR Rehman withdrew from Bench to hear appeal of Asia Bibi only few hours before proceedings to start to block hearing on fear of backlash of religious extremists.

Dr. Nazir Bhatti said “Christians are denied equal basic democratic rights in Pakistan, violence is rising against Christians on pretext of blasphemy laws and Christian women are abducted, raped and enforcedly converted to Islam”

“The Christian victims of persecution and oppression are denied justice by Pakistani Courts headed by Muslim judges” added Nazir Bhatti

PCC Chief appealed Holy Father Pope Francis not to visit Pakistan on security and safety issues and condition his visit on release of Asia Bibi and to block misuse of blasphemy laws by government of Pakistan.

Nazir S Bhatti said that US State Department have expressed dis-satisfaction on action of Pakistan establishment against terrorist organization which are alleged to be harbored by it, the invitation of Pakistani Bishops visit to Holy Father seems mysterious.
