PCC condemn Asyia Nasir statements and warns UNHCR on managing meeting of Pakistan delegation with asylum seekers

Karachi: January 22, 2016. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC in a statement issued here today from Central Secretariat said that PCC strongly condemns question raised in National Assembly by an Islamic Party JUI (F) selected Christian MNA Asyia Nasir on situation of Pakistani Christian Asylum seekers in Bangkok and Colombo on which Government of Pakistan is sending one delegation comprising of one selected Christian by Pakistan Muslim League PML (N) in Punjab Assembly and two Muslim parliamentarians to Bangkok to meet with Christian asylum seekers and convince Royal Kingdom of Thailand to arrest and deport those who not accept their package to return back to Pakistan.

Dr. Nazir Bhatti warned UNHCR that if it arranged meetings of Pakistani Christian Asylum seekers or compromised their data with Pakistani delegation it will be crime and against norms of UN Refugee Commission then Pakistan Christian Congress will be forced to file case against UNHCR Bangkok office in ECtHR as UNHCR head office falls in its jurisdiction being situated in Switzeland.

Nazir Bhatti said “Asyia Nasir raised question about Pakistani Christian Asylum seekers in National Assembly of Pakistan as a tool of conspiracy hatched by government of Pakistan against Christians in Bangkok that government may repatriate them or invite cooperation of Royal Kingdom of Thailand to deport them on pretext their Christian MNA seek it”

Asyia Nasir is not elected by votes of Christians but where she refrained from raising issue of Pakistani Christians Asylum seekers while it was forum to present issues; This forum issued Letters of Action to Iran, Burma and Vietnam on persecution of religious and ethnic minorities in respective states but Asyia Nasir failed to convince UN forum that Christians in Pakistan are not enjoying equal rights. It is surprising that why she raised her question in National Assembly of Pakistan instead of UN Summit of Parliamentarians where hundreds of countries representatives were participating.

Nazir Bhatti said that it is violation of International norms and UN laws to deport any refugee or Asylee to a country where he or she fears that his or her life is in danger and he approached UNHCR and registered with UNHCR; it means that if UNHCR arranges meetings of Pakistani Asylum seekers registered with its office with visiting Pakistani official delegation then it violates its own protocol and if any deportee faces persecution or threat to his life than things will turn to serious consequences against UNHCR Bangkok office, government of Pakistan and Royal Kingdom of Thailand.

Nazir Bhatti said that Pakistan Christian Congress PCC will approach to European Court of Human Right against UNHCR Bangkok office and if Pakistani Asylum seekers were forcibly deported to Pakistan the action will be filed with relevant authorizes under “non-refoulement" act.
