Implementation of blasphemy law on Asia Bibi is un-Islamic. Nazir Bhatti

Karachi, Pakistan: November 28, 2010. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC expressed concerns over statement of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, President of Tanzeem-ul-Mardars Ahle-Sunnat Pakistan on visit of Governor Punjab Slaman Taseer to Asia Bibi, a Christian mother sentenced to death on accusations of blasphemy in Seikhurura jail.

Nazir Bhatti said that its for information of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman and all other Muslim groups and Islamic political parties in Pakistan that Christians are son of soil who voted for formation of Pakistan and deserve due share in resources of Pakistan not a treatment by Muslim majority towards them as “Dhimmi” that Islamic laws which are for Muslims be enforced on them.

It is un-Islamic to implement Islamic laws on Christians and Muslim scholars and Islamic Religious parties must remember “Madina Treaty” when Prophet Mohammad signed not to enforced Muslims laws on Jews and other religious minorities in Madina after his migration.

Nazir Bhatti said that Pakistan is not any conquered territory of Muslims or All India Muslim League or Mohammad Ali Jinnah but created by Pakistan Movement with due participation of All India Christian Association which voted in favour of Pakistan in Round Table Conference in London and later voted for division of Punjab before Boundary Commission, unless Punjab have never fallen in lot of Pakistan but be a part of India.

“Why Muslim majority wants religious minorities to be treated under Islamic laws and wants Pakistan to be an Islamic state because Pakistan was not formed in name of Islam when Pakistan Resolution and Objective Resolutions guaranteed Religious Freedom and If Pakistan was formed for Islam why True leaders of Pakistan Movement and Pakistan Muslim league formed “Constitution of Pakistan” and later “Republic of Pakistan” in 1956” added Nazir Bhatti

Nazir Bhatti said after decades PPP conspired and formed constitution of “Islamic Republic of Pakistan” in 1973, where Christian and other Pakistani religious minorities had no representation in National Assembly and ideology of Pakistan was changed.

Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, addressing a press conference today in Karachi declared that any attempt to repeal or revise blasphemy law will be blocked by peoples power and Muslim will not permit to touch this law.

Nazir Bhatti said that Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman failed to clarify that weather implementation of Islamic law is just on non-Muslim? If he claims that Christians are “Dhimmi” or Pakistan is formed in name of Islam, and law of land must be Islamic law then he must read Pakistan Movement and speeches of Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

“Muslims migrated to Indian cub-continent from Middle East and Central Asia but Christians are son of soil and if Muslim majority conspired to corner them or treated them as Dhimmi and not stopped to enforced Islamic law on them, the situation will change map of Pakistan” added Nazir Bhatti

The Chief of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC appealed Islamic clerics to voice against conviction of Asia Bibi under accusations of blasphemy law and political parties may legislate to implementation of Islamic laws on Muslims only.

Nazir Bhatti said Blasphemy law, Hadood Ordinance, Law of Evidence and Compensation and all other Islamic lawa are for Muslims not for Christians or other non-Muslim Pakistani individuals and by implementing these laws on religious minorities is their enforced conversion which can not be an Islamic attitude.

Nazir S Bhatti appealed government of Pakistan to immediately release Asia Bibi and to drop Islamic blasphemy law charges from Christian woman.

Nazir Bhatti clarified that Christians in Pakistan have never commented derogatory remarks about Prophet of any Religion because Christianity is religion of peace and respect.
